The Rise and Fall of a Northern Star offers a peculiar blend of comedy and tragedy interspersed with original music and rhythmic pacey dialogue.

The Great Hall, Exeter University

Sat 14th November

 7.30pm

One of the most popular charity events on the Exeter musical calendar is back for a fifth time in 2015. Classics Galore! is an extravaganza of entertainment that features familiar and uplifting music performed by a 200-hundred strong ensemble - a full orchestra, a brass band and two choral societies.

The concerts are specially arranged for those with an interest in the lighter side of classical music, and contain nothing that is heavy, or obscure. Items are specially chosen and usually immediately recognisable – although one or two works are included that are perhaps not so well known, but nevertheless enjoyable.

New for this year, there will be a Gilbert and Sullivan section, excerpts from My Fair Lady & Verdi’s opera Aida and in true Last Night of the Proms style will have a traditional finale including Land of Hope and Glory and Rule Britannia that’s guaranteed to get the audience singing along.

The Terrace Bar of the Great Hall will be open for those who would like to have a meal before the concert and there will also be shuttle buses between the Great Hall and the main car parks for concert patrons.

The event is staged to raise money for local cancer charity FORCE
